The “White Widow” Samantha Lewthwaite and the Kenya mall attack

Samantha Lewthwaite, the youngest daughter of a British soldier, the shy, gawky schoolgirl who all teachers loved, is now the world’s most wanted woman after the attack on Nairobi’s Westgate Mall
 last Saturday.

Samantha, 29-year Muslim convert, was nicknamed the White Widow after it emerged last year that she was married to Jermaine Lindsay, a bomber, at the time of 2005 attacks.
Since a number of witnesses described a white woman among the terrorists, security forces believe that the bloody Kenyan mall massacre was plotted by Samantha.
According to the forces, Samantha rented a house just 100 yards away from the shopping mall. The responsibility for the attack, however, has been claimed by the Somali jihadist group al-Shabaab.
Speculations of Samantha’s involvement were fuelled by Kenyan Foreign Minister on Monday who told PBS News Hour that a British woman was among the attackers. The Shabaab has, however, denied the presence of women in the statements the group issued on Twitter.
An international arrest warrant has been issued by Kenya on September 26 for the British terrorist. Interpol has circulated her fingerprints, photographs and details of false identities used by her to 190 countries.
The Interpol notice, however, made no mention of Westgate rather said Lewthwaite is wanted on charges of possessing explosives and conspiracy to commit a felony in December 2011.
It is believed that following Lindsay’s suicide bombing and consequent death Samantha became a member of a terror cell connected to Al-Shabaab in Kenya. Since then, she has been involved in a number of terror plans
